CBD oil sugar scrubs are a great way to exfoliate tired skin and reveal a fresh glowing complexion. Making your own is a soothing self-care activity, especially when you add some CBD to the mix. CBD oil can help make your skin baby soft.
There are a lot of sugar scrub recipes out there, but we combed through the best to formulate a simple recipe that you can use from head to toe.
Ingredients
If you plan on making a large batch be sure to have a nice glass jar with a lid on hand. You will also need a nice sturdy stirring utensil, we like to usea stainless steel fork or small whisk. Store in an airtight container at room temperature, a sugar scrub like this will be good for about 2-3 months. Feel free to double or triple the recipe for larger batches.
Your Choice of CBD Oil
For this recipe we recommend using either of the following CBD oil products:
1 Tablespoon CBD Oil Honey or 17% Pure Decarboxylated CBD Oil ¼ of a Gram.
The great thing about our CBD oil honey is that it’s nice and fully blended for you, making it very easy to work with. Sugar scrubs are very dense, so having your honey and CBD already blended is very convenient.
The decarboxylated oil is a versatile option, be sure to soften the sealed oil syringe in warm water before blending it in. This oil has a beautiful natural dark blue color and a thick paste-like consistency. Start by blending it with your choice of oil before adding the sugar and honey.
Carrier Oil: 1-2 Tablespoons
The carrier oil will help make your sugar scrub malleable and easy to spread on your skin. Choose from jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, or avocado oil. Jojoba oil is great for oily skin as it doesn’t clog pores, sweet almond oil and avocado oil is excellent for hydrating dry skin.
Start with one tablespoon, mixing in the sugar and honey as you go. Add up to a second tablespoon, if you prefer your scrub to be less dense, add more oil until you have reached the desired consistency.
Sugar: 2 Tablespoons
Sugar makes a great natural exfoliant, containing alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) which helps promote healthy skin cell turnover. Depending on your goals choose from regular white sugar, brown sugar, or raw sugar.
White sugar is great for sensitive facial skin, brown sugar is a good all-purpose exfoliant, and raw sugar is great for hands and feet. You can also experiment with Maple Sugar, it tastes just like maple syrup and has a consistency similar to brown sugar.
Honey: 2 Tablespoons
Raw honey contains enzymes and antioxidants to clear pores of impurities, allowing it to naturally moisturize and kill bacteria. It has been said that honey can also lighten dark spots and reduce the appearance of scars.
If you are opting to work with CBD oil honey, you can use one table spoon of the CBD honey and one of plain honey. In the video below, we got a bit enthusiastic and used two tablespoons of CBD oil honey, this is optional.
For recipes using the decarboxylated oil, choose a pure grade A honey.
Essential Oil: Optional 1-2 Drops Total
Use essential oils sparingly as they can irritate skin on their own. Depending on your skin type or condition, there is a variety of essential oils you may add to your scrub. Lavender essential oil is great for relaxation and soothing sensitive skin. Lemongrass essential oil is perfect for balancing out a greasy complexion. There are dozens of amazing essential oils to choose from, be careful not to use more than 2 drops total to avoid skin irritation.
Using your CBD Oil Sugar Scrub
Start by opening your pores with a nice warm towel or warm water. This will help prime your skin to absorb all the natural goodness. Gently massage the CBD oil sugar scrub on your skin with the pads of your fingers in small circular motions.
Feel free to use on face, neck, and body. After about 60-90 seconds of gentle massage, rinse well with warm water and pat dry. For added benefits leave on for up to ten minutes.
This is such a fun activity to do with family and friends. Make a big batch, a handcrafted CBD oil sugar scrub is the perfect gift.
